The black line represents the percent of theoretical combinations that are allowed to be played (using the right Y-axis). I don't like the spec design much, but of the three it's the only one that feels anything like what I originally enjoyed about the hunter (high-mobility ranged dps). If I had to choose a spec out of the three, I'd probably choose BM. If I'm going to be in melee I'll be on my paladin (though I'm not wild about what they've done with ret, either). As a melee spec it feels alright, but it's just not for me.

SV is a melee spec, and I've always played my hunter because I enjoy the high-mobility ranged aspect of it. It seems like they wanted to make a complex spec that people could really dig into and become practiced at, but it just feels messy and lackluster. And of course, aimed shot can't be cast while moving anymore.

A chance on auto-shot to cause a proc that makes your next Arcane/Multi apply a debuff, which in turn allows you to use marked shot, which then buffs the damage of aimed shot. MM just feels like a very confused design. But combined with uninspired design, and no filler for when things are all on CD, the simplicity just makes it fall flat. It's incredibly simple, which isn't necessarily a bad thing by itself. In my opinion, they completely missed the mark on all of the specs.īM is slow and boring it also doesn't deliver on what I always felt BM was or should be (a hunter with a tight-knit bond with his/her pet). My hunter has been my main in WoD (currently 12/13M in HFC), and it was also my main back in BC. Honestly, I don't like any of the hunter specs.
